Let me congratulate you that you have decided to become an event manager. Why am I wishing you? Well, I am in the same profession as well and I would love to encourage people who want to join the same. But one thing I must say to you and other aspiring event managers that stay updated with all technology updates which will help in your job. For example, you can use your event management skills to make a event grand. But you must also consider using a mobile event app to make it successful and well-managed.

Get involved! That's the best you can do. Being involved in event planning and slowly but steadily increasing you reference lists in your cv is crucial. There's no real "event planner degree", it's typically an attitude and experience thing. The more local events ur involved in (probably wont get paid for planning those, but u need experience, not the money (yet) ) the better chances you have for actually getting a job at an event planning agency. Also, it's always a good thing just to write to an agency and ask them ur questions. You can get contact info from their websites, shoot them an email saying you want to do this, what do they recommend, how did they do it etc. Good luck.
