For a retail position it's pretty normal, it depends on the place and the manager tho. When I worked at H&M and turned in my application, the same thing happened to me, a "mini interview" but its a good sign. It means the manager is taking time out to talk to you becuz they are interested/and are hiring. If they like your answers, expect a phone call back.
