    RE: AVON is a side business -- for many women and men AVON is paying all the bills. It's a person's only income. As for why someone would by, I'm realizing that the answer is as wide as it is long. I have a few people who want me to visit them and we have coffee. Others, just want me to bring them brochures and others, I've never met -- they found me online. So I guess the answer IMO is that for each client we have to ask how they prefer being treated.

I am also in Direct sales and this is what I have sound. Since we are in a business that deals face to face we get a lot of no thank yous and some rude No's :) People are only interested if they are in the market for what you offer you don't go into a ffurniture store unless you are in the market to buy urniture. Once I establish they are in the market for what I offer or interested in being on my mailing list i ask them there preference then there are no misunderstandings. I have customers that only call me when they want something and other that I call on a regular basis knowing there needs and wants makes them feel appreciate and remain loyal. It shows them I care in their interest not just what I think they need or want in my service. I have found that free sample are always appreciate I try to put something fun in ever thing I hand out a order refile or a business card. Personal experience around the holidays i went to pick up my dry cleaning I received a free lint brush small jester that made me feel good and want to go back. As for specials I offer them to my regular customers as an appreciation for their business I give a special discount in their birthday month and offer special sales twice a year. I buy my Avon from a person who leaves a catalogue. I make my choices, call her up and give her the info over the phone, then she delivers it. nice and simple. I don't want a sales person hovering over me or coming on strong or offering things. If there is a deal, she can write it on the catalogue, or I can read it for myself. sorry. tht is my ideal avon sales rep. She is friendly and always delivers when promised. that is all I care about. good luck and have fun with it you got some good answers before. the party idea sounds good. I would not go to it, but that is just me, cuz I know me and if I go to one of those party deals for whatever it is, I always buy more stuff than I need or even want

I love free samples and other 99cent freebies that my Avon lady throws in. She also does special deals such as get a free eye makeup remover lotion with the purchase of any 2 eyeshadows. To find out what is the best to promote, see what your clients tend to buy most of and go from there! Good luck!

Someone who isn't pushy. I've purchased from women who just provide me with a catalog and their #. I've turned away from women who are insistant and too persistent about buying. Avon is a side business not meant to be hustle-type selling.
