It means precisely what it says - you only get paid when you sell, there is no basic reliable. If you have a good product and are a good salesperson then you can make a living, but it will never be steady. In the current economic climate it is a risky proposition as the company can have as many salespeople as they like at no real cost. On the other hand, it is easier then self employment! Good luck!

It means basically you're getting paid on how well you sell things. Basically whatever it is you're selling you will get a certain percentage from what it sold for. So keeping it simple lets say you get 10% commission and you sell something for $100 you will receive $10 from that... This can be a good thing or a bad thing.
