I'm surprised hardly any of these other posters mentioned anything other than some kind of drugs or vitamin therapy. Be sure your room is restful and ready for sleep. Clean sheets, very dim or no lights, total silence unless you prefer very low, quiet music or "white noise". Now, go to bed at the same time every night, and create some sort of pattern, like 6:00 and later no caffeine OR chocolate (which has caffeine); 9:00 turn off the TV and relax or read a book or take your shower or whatever. 10:00 get in bed and turn the lights off. Keep the room on the cool side, and cover up with a clean sheet and blanket. No animals on the bed. In other words, there should be no distractions from allowing yourself to go to sleep. Do not try to think of anything - picture your brain is a big blackboard, and erase anything that shows up (like what you have to do tomorrow, or what Suzy said on the phone today, or how in the world you're going to pay that frikkin' car insurance bill next month). Erase all those thoughts interrupting your nice quiet sleep. Close your eyes. Now.... sleep.

There is a few things you can do... First treat your bed and the room in which you have it as off limits til you go to bed. Only go to bed when you are tired...force your self to remove yourself and go to sleep. What you are doing is associating your mind with sleep and your bed. This takes 30 days or more...you are developing a routine. Other things to do...try reading before you go to bed...something that doesnt interest you much. Dont eat at least 2 hours before you go to sleep. If you get up after all lights are off...keep them off!! YOur body stops producing melatonin with bright lights present... again keep bed off limits only sleep in it. dont do anything else with it...

You may have a sleeping disorder called "delayed sleep phase syndrome" where in your body isn't naturally ready to sleep at night, and awake in the morning. Your internal clock may just be a couple of hours ahead :). If your lifestyle cannot accomodate this sleeping schedule, you're just going to have to try and wind down before sleeping. Reading is a good suggestion, you may also want to explore yoga, or meditation...sometimes even a bath before bed is helpful.

Pepsi has caffeine in it don't do that, have a glass of warm milk with honey right before bed & drink chamomile tea through out the evening, it will relax you, don't drink anything with caffeine after 6pm. Also, set you alarm an hour earlier every day, this way you'll get tired faster & hopefully fall asleep earlier. Good luck!

Try to relax a litt bit before going to bed ie reading a book or soaking in a warm bath. Also try to minamize stress.....i know that its hrd but it will work, plus you will have a better night sleep.

Sorry i cant really answer you...since i have the same problem. What i found to kind of help, would be to take a Tylenol PM an hour before you go to sleep. Helps me go to sleep by 1..when i lay down at 10.

You HAVE to retrain your body. It's hard, it took me 2 weeks. Melatonin helped me fall asleep without feeling hung over in the morning. When you go to bed early, get up early. Even if you can't keep your eyes open! You have to make yourself. Then it will come naturally :o) Good luck!
