What are some good careers to go to college for?

Are there any decent careers you dont have to go to college for?

  • Or go to college for 2-4 years?

  • Answer:

I and my sister both work for Bank of America, I just started working here, but she's worked here for like 8 years and she makes a well amount of money. Lets put it this way, her husband went to college , has a bachelor's degree, owns his own business, and she is still the bread winner. She never went to college. I think you just need to get in a big company and work your way up

There are careers that don't require college, but all require some type of training. Choose a field that interests you. Two years at a community college can net you a career in computer aided design (CAD). Two years or less in cosmetology school can net an aesthetician license. Pick up a brochure at a trade or technical school and see what grabs your interest.

Yes, of course. Some of the best self-employmen careers don't require a college education. Although, in order to be successful, you do need to be the kind of person who is constantly self-educating. Realtor, Truck Driver are two that come to mind. Entirely different in the kind of skills they require, but both can pay well, both can be done as an independent businessperson, and both require intelligence and the ability to manage oneself.

There are some good jobs for people who don't go to college. The only problem is they are good for a limited time. If you don't go to college, your earning potential is significantly decreased... what this means is you will make good money now but your wages won't increase as quickly or drastically as if you go to college and work in a job that will offer true career progression and development. Don't skip college. College is not that bad. Plus four years fly by so fast. Start school and it will be over before you know it.

I'm not sure if you would consider it decent, the hours are terrible, on call 24/7, but the Railroad. You can hire on and start out $45K a year, and within the next 2 years be making between 50k to 75k a year. Not bad for only requiring a highschool diploma at most. Of course, a degree will get your foot in the door quicker with any job. Oh, and also Insuranse Sales or anything sales for that matter. Of course you start out making pittance, but with residual commission you can eventually make quite well.

the best deal that i know of is go into the military as an air traffic controller! They pay you to get training and when you get out after 4 years you START at $80,000

There are lots of things you can do, but eventually you'll probably reach a point where you can't rise any higher without a degree. But 4 years is good enough for most things. Especially if you're a good salesman. Anyway, why don't you want to go to college. It's very different than high school.

If you're a good talker you can talk your way into any job. College doesn't mean much anymore. Heck I know people with four year degrees and their still working for $12 an hour in their respected field. Tell me that's not bullshit.
