Does 'in and out' hire people with tattoos?

Why is that people wont hire someone with tattoos and piercings if they are hard workers w/ people skills?

  • Answer:

Depends on the job. But from a personal view if I see someone with a tattoo and piercings then my first impression is a weak person who is easily lead. Not to mention they look ugly (my opinion). Why get a tattoo, except to show that you an outsider and want to wear the uniform. Tattoos are painful, tacky, and always turn green and ugly. If there were a way to get a skin dye that would fade in a month or two it might be fun for a change. But as you gain or lose weight, or as you age they never look as good as they do right after you get them. Piercings are even worse especially when cleanliness is vital to the job. They provide a place for bacteria to grow and if you aren't very fastidious with hygiene they are an open invitation to infection.

It's a professionalism issue. Some people these days are frightened by people with tattoos and piercings, as silly as it sounds, and scaring away customers is bad for business, thus the company doesn't hire folks with tattoos or piercings. There is hope though, if you live in southern California, it's not really something that is frowned upon unless you're with a big company where everyone lives in a suit. What I really think you need is a company that will provide you with a chance to show them that you're a great employee and maybe they'll overlook your personal artwork.

because some people feel intimidated when they see tattoos and piercings and are scared to approach that person.

Because visible tatts an piercings put off some folks with "old school" sensibilities. A LOT of those same people just happen to run most companies out there. Of course, if you can find a way to remove visible body jewelry at work/before your interview and cover up your tatts, your chances will get much better. It all goes back to the old saying: You only get one chance to make a good first impression. Unfortunately, people make snap judgements about you as a person, based solely on your appearance, rather than bothering to look below the surface to see more.

Because the older generations are intimidated by tattoos for some reason or another. Which is dumb because I used to know this guy that was so unbelievable smart and cool but some people would judge him first by his tattoos and piercing. IT was really sad. Its like get over it already. Its a form of art!

idk ive always wondered that too i think it is they just stereotype the person when they see them and dont care if u were the worlds hardest worker they just see ur appearance and think hmm that will probably be a bad person to work here because the customers will be scared off

i agree with this having got tattoos and piercings myself....it used to really rack me off....you just have to keep trying....one day i went for a job interview with peroxide blonde spiky hair, grade nothing back and sides, multiple piercings and just let my intellect do the talking and as a result got a very good job...not every employer is narrow minded and judgemental....it is improving...just not fast enough.
