    If you were an independent contractor, you weren't technically an employee of the company. You could say your contract was terminated.

You were NOT employed if you were under CONTRACT. You may have a legal obligation by CONTRACT to NOT DISCLOSE any such data as it is not the business of a prospective employer to have the abiltiy or right to interfere in a contract, past or present. Your obligation to your former CLIENT is to retain the confidentiality and privacy of them, as their duty is equally to you. They should NOT reveal anything about you or your prior contract or face civil liabililty if they should harm you for having done so.

You need to be honest cuz your new employer will probably find out himself if you were terminated, and if he finds out you lied about it you won't get hired by him.

you gotta tell the truth because if you get the job and they find out later you may be told to leave , and you can't do anything about it.
