if you are in India, the answer is clear: some bangles and some (non-gold) jewelry.. if you are in US, the answer is even clearer: find out her favorite store to shop at and get a gift card..   the complication is that you just met a person and you may have hit it off friends-wise but it will take sometime to learn about this person..   example: gift cards are always safe, but for best friends (like in my case), the person already had everything she needs and she's working at a really high-paying job.. and i just did not know what to get her.. solution was simple yet hysterical: i got a rock (regular one, with smooth sides, basically a huge pebble), washed it and wrote on it, "You Rock!".. yes, it was funny and i bet she cannot get THAT from any store..

Since I have never met her so..could not define her likes amd dislikes but as for an 18 year old girl I would suggest some chocolates, flowers and a birthday card would be a great option..or else a pendent would be okay..
