Why do my legs itch after shaving?

Why would legs itch like crazy for a very long time immediately after shaving?

  • Bought Dial soap with Vit. E. Apparently my daughter is allergic to it and it caused horrendous itching. Now using Ivory for a few days, but severe itching came back with shaving ...show more

  • Answer:

First try a better razor and actual shaving creme that has moisture in it. I would recommend one for sensitive legs. Second, don't apply lotion to the legs immediately after shaving. The pores are still open and the lotion may cause irritation.

I have the same problem. Before trying anything else, make sure she uses a lotion after drying her legs. If she is using bar soap, try switching to liquid body wash, shaving is a little better. She can also try shaving gel.

Buy some anti-alergic soap. maybe she's allergic to dyes, so buy some soap without dyes. Buy blades with moisture strips. Maybe u could try the schik intuition, that has a blade in a bar of soap, buy the moisturizing kind. When people shave, the top layer of their skin is also shaved off, so, as the legs heal, and cry out for moisture, they itch. I usually use caress, Dove, or my personal favorite...Oil of Olay. They're fairly cheap, and they work. If none of this works, and she doesn't seem to be allergic to anything, take her to a doctor and haver her checked out.

There is no escape

she needs a proper razor an an anti allergic shaving cream

First of all, soap isn't the best thing to be shaving legs with. Shaving cream works a million times better. Also, use a new, sharp razor that does have the moisture strip, it will help prevent razor burn. If itching still occurs, putting lotion on right after the shower helps me. I use Palmer's Cocoa Butter, or Johnson's baby lotion, anything with too much perfume and fragrance might irritate it even more.

drrryy skinnn, the soap is drying her skin, have her use good razors and a high quality shaving cream, and a hypoallergenic moistergizer after.

I had the same problem. I ended up buying an epilator, and the results last longer than shaving. Plus when the hair begins to grow back, it's much softer.

Jelly

Maybe it is the shaving cream not the soap, even swtry switching razors

Hard Luck

Try some antihistamine.... benadril works ok.... have her tested for alergies..... maybe the soap she's shaving with
