How long will it take my toenail to regrow?

Will the ER take my ingrown toenail out for me?

  • I have a really bad infected ingrown toenail and it's at the point where I can barely walk, I don't want to eat, and it like throbs when I'm sleeping so I can barely ...show more

  • Answer:

The ER could do this. But, this is a terrible use of resources and your money. Instead, go to your local urgent care during business hours. Or, even better, go see your primary physician on Monday. If your insurance allows for you to go directly to a Podiatrist, then this is who you should see. Post your edit: Insurance Cards do not pay for services. They merely indicate that you have insurance and give the provider enough information to check on your coverage. Most Emergency Room visits require a $100 to $500 dollar deductable (i.e. you pay the deductable). You will not normally get a bill the day you go to the ER. Instead, you will be billed after your insurance adjusts the bill for the negotiated rate; pays their portion, and identifies for the hospital which portion of the bill belongs to you - as the co-pay.

I'm sure ER or urgent Care will do it. Don't expect them to be happy about it since it has probably gone on for a long time to get to this point (and they will know that). It may come as no surprise to you that ERs don't like seeming problems that have been going on for a long time and have been allowed to progress. Of, course, expect such a lecture from any doctor you end up seeing. Also bring a book. You'll be there for a while when the triage nurse shuffles in more severe problems ahead of you. But it sounds like it's progressed to the point of intolerance so get it taken care of sooner rather than later and even an ingrown toenail has to potential to become dangerous if allowed to progress enough

When i had mine i had to go to a Podiatrist to get it taken care of.

ReeferMattness

Most likely. It's technically "surgery" since it's imbeaded into your skin. Deffinately go to the hospital if it's causing you pain. Hope this helps! :)

cccolleen.!

They would but you will save hundreds of dollars if you just go to your pyhscian.

Amanda

no, surgery would get it out for you. But emergency room would probably accept you if the fever from your infected toe got so bad you had to call 911. Don't call 911 unless you have to though, it costs alot more. If you can, just suck it up and go to urgent care.

wunder_bred

OF COURSE! :)

Sevensins150

Yes, but you may have to wait quite awhile and pay a lot for it. Sorry to hear about your toe. You are right to see a doctor right away.

Maria

Yes, they will as the key words here are "infected" and "pain" so they will have to see you. Just bring a good book and be prepared to wait, but they will take care of it. Peace:)

Canadian Diva

Yeah they will. Go for it!
