How long does it usually take for an item to go on sale?

If you were to go on the show Survivor what would be the one item you would take with you?

I know they allow people to take 1 item with them that they otherwise wouldn't be allowed to. Mine would be lotion because I have such dry skin, I would be miserable without it.
