I'm an adult: do i need to take a learning disability test?

from what you put here I would take the test, 2 reasons, to get to the bottom of the problem, and for your peice of mind, so you will then know its nothing you have a lot of controll over. But remember this all people are diffrent and have diffrent learning styles, dont compare yourself to others.

By all means take the test. HOWEVER, having read what you said - I would like to put a different perspective on your problem. All these difficulties you listed - did you ALWAYS have these problems? Have you always been aware that you have a hard time learning things since you were younger (as a child in school?) Take the test, but also - see your doctor. It is possible - and I am only saying that it is POSSIBLE, that there may be other physical or pathological causes. There might not be - but it is worth checking out. All the best.

Hey I cant remember names even when they are put to me many times but I can walk through Sear, Walmart, Penny's,Sam Club and a thousand other places and in ten years I can tell where an item is and on what shelf. But I cant remember Names. You need to do is relax and understand the thinking process. Your mind is looking for an answer and you are not giving the information it needs. Get your mind and brain in order and give the information your brain is looking for.

You might have one. But everyone has their strengths and weaknesses... and in my opinion the things you listed are not things that make a person truly intellectual. There are tons of people out there with learning disabilities... I am mentally ill (bi-polar, or schizo-affective, they haven't decided yet) + have trouble with most of the things you listed (as well as having no directional skills and little common sense). But I do not think any of these things make me intellectually inferior. I am just intellectual in different ways... make any sense?

go for it!! i mean, it sounds like it a real hinderence to your social life and it is causing your signficant problem when you are trying to concentrate or learn new material. i believe its a very good idea. if it turns out you DO hav a learning disability, then they will be able to start you on some treatments like medication. the worst thing that could happen is that the psycologist or whoever is giving this assement to you, may say you're fine and just forgetful. i think its a very good idea though, especially since you stated it was a nuiscance. good luck, i hope everything goes well :)

I would say go ahead and take it; if you don't you will have lingering doubt. Also once a problem is defined (if there is one) you can then work on a solution.
