How do you design a Twitter background that reliably displays content on the side of the screen?

Example: https://twitter.com/make Most descriptions say there is no way (), but why do we see a lot of Twitter pages with content displayed precisely at the side of the screen, seemingly no matter what resolution, and even when resizing the browser window? Is there really no way at all to have content within a background image on Twitter aligned with the edges of the displayed part of the website? What's the fix? This is a follow-up to

You can target 1600x1200 pixel resolution and design a picture as you would design a wallpaper.
