Shortboard surfboard length? please help!!?

  • Answer:

too big? nope to small, for smaller waves youre looking for the longest board you can get your hands on (long boards are easier to catch waves on) from 1 to 5 foot waves you want about a 7+ surfboard would be ideal with shallow rocker (rocker is the curvature of the board) 5+ waves are better with short boards with steep rocker as the waves are steeper when they are bigger with more rocker you are less likely to curl ( when your nose dips under water and you go flying when your paddling for a wave) hope i helped :) im about the same size as you and ive got a fairly wide 6"4 spider shortboard and that seems to handel well in any size waves. good luck finding a surfboard

it depends on what you are looking for.... I am 5'2 110lbs and i ride a 6'8 which is considered a longer board. I ride about 5-8 ft waves. and the board is great. but it depends.. if you are a beginner a board that is a little longer will be good for you as it provides more stability.
