Why we feel cold during fever, even body temperature is high?

What temperature does your body feel in 60 degree water wearing a 4/3 wetsuit?

  • My friend is a surfer. If you're an average weight (say 160) and average height (say 5'10) with average body fat (say 18%) and the water temperature is about 60 degrees and ...show more

Basically your OK. The water on your feet & head feels cold. It simply feels like 55-65 degree water. I would kept the option open for using booties. It doesn't feel like 85 degree water but it's not nearly as bad as you think with a 4/3 wetsuit. Keep in mind that you are almost always working. Paddling out, surfing etc. Your body temp will probably stay pretty close to 98.6. The wetsuit itself keeps you pretty warm & helps to keep your body heat from escaping. Remember we loose most of our body heat through our head. If you're out resting a lot or waiting for the next set you may feel a bit cold. There is no way to calculate this. Experience & listening to your body. If/when you feel cold it's time to get out of the water. Have lots of water to drink but also keep a thermos of hot coffee/coco too on the beach.
