generally a lesson and a 9 foot longboard are the best way to start. for a beginner the brand really isn't important, it's the size.

You want to make sure its a big board. Something around 8-9 feet. I included a link to a good longboard that I think will serve you well, you can also look around at the other longboards and sort by rating to find one good for a beginner.
