  surfing is harder (in my opinion) than snowboarding....i dont know about skateboarding. however one thing im sure about is that it is the most fun and when you catch a wave it will probably be one of the best experiences in your life. that is why people become so addicted to surfing. because once you catch a nice wave you are hooked. your skateboarding skills may help you not sure about snowboarding maybe it will help your balance ability. you need to know how to swim, obviously, and try on a long board first then overtime if you like surfing you may get a short board. you need to be aware of your surroundings and the waves and weather conditions. dont go out your first time and try to surf a 6 foot wave before it crashes, you will most likely wipe out and feel frustrated and quit surfing. just take it step by step. you should probably start out surfing the white wash (after wave breaks) but you could also ride the whole wave (b4 it crashes) if it is like 1-3 ft. you are really lucky you live by the ocean; take advantage of it. have fun!
