The biggest surf usually occurs in October and November

First of all don't go to Newquay unless you want to go for a surf lesson then come back to the pub, get drunk and puke everywhere like the rest of the yobbos. There are other loverly places along the coast like Croyde Bay in North Devon or St Ives. August, September, October is the best time to go especially just after the bank holiday in August. Still lovely and warm but less crowds.
