    surfing is probably the best workout that you can get. i works the whole body. the lifestyle helps as well. if you spend all your extra time in the water or hangin at the beach, you are a lot less likely to be glued to a couch eating hoho's and twinkies. don't get me started on video games; they are pretty much the devil to this generation and more to come.

well counting on the fact that I'm a 6ft4in 285lb man that is mostly flab the Only thing that I really had to do is build up upper body strength so i could paddle out and balance is a key figure, just get out and do it you will find out what you can do in time

The most important factor is the ability to swim a good distance as well as having some upper body strength to push yourself up on the board. The only real test that they use is just observing you surfing and they will look at skill, stability, stamina, and your ability to do tricks and fun stuff like that. Have fun
