What kind of surf longboard to buy my husband?

    Before you spend any cash. Look at the reviews of the products. If he's just learning get him a good 9 footer, Epoxy is really nice and buoyant and handles dings really well. What a great gift! Shop around and plan on forking down anywhere from $350-1000 depending on the board and shapper. If he is not new to surfing then i'd get him the giftcard like someone else said, he'll know what he wants. If your going foam board, Costco has some that are cheap and great to learn on. Keep in mind that foam boards are only meant to teach surfers the basics like balance, paddling and standing up. Which should take a few months at most. Once your husband gets this down he'll surely want a real board, and he'll want one really badly. You could buy the foam board, and save a couple hundred bucks on the side. And have him buy a used one of craigslist, i purchased several boards on that site and i'm satisfied. A wetsuit isn't a bad gift either.

Dude, just give him the money so he can buy the board he wants. Boards are very custom and completely depend on a million different things (waves, style, ability, etc.). If you're off by even a little bit, it will be a really bad gift idea. And, it's not returnable. I would really either (a) talk to him and see what he wants, or (b) give him the cash and make him buy a board.
