What is the best surf board?

I am new to surfing and am wondering what are the best surf board brands out there?

    I wouldn't go with a Surface surfboard. Once you get proficient at catching waves and standing up, you'll have outgrown the board. I like fishes and I think 9:Fish Surfboards makes the best fishes out there (that's all they do, so it's their specialty). The fish shape that 9:Fish has makes it really easy to paddle and catch waves without having to ride a big longboard. This allows you to progress much faster and have a lot more maneuverability. Plus their prices are very reasonable. They currently do a lot of collaboration with one of the first fish shapers out there, Clyde Beatty. He even glasses some of their boards. The best thing to do is read reviews of surfboards by real surfers and then talk to the shaper. You can read surfer feedback here on Todd Proctor's boards. Surface is a brand that makes soft-top surfboards for beginners. If you are a beginner, I would suggest that you don't worry about brand name surfboards and start with the Surface board. The best known shaper in the world, if anybody knows what they are talking about, is Wade Tokoro from Hawaii. Also for guns, Kerry Tokoro... Wade's brother. I have tried them all and nothing compares!
