When I give lessons my students stand up on their 1st lesson. Take a lesson from a surf instructor. You'll learn tons of useful things from them.
Surfing With Ben-Surf Lessons
I learned how to surf when I was 7, my dad's friend taught me how and I took surf lessons during the summer. Once you successfully ride your first wave, it kind of just comes naturally from then on. You can go to your local surf shop, most of them give surf lessons, you should bring a friend while your learning to make it more fun. Make sure you have experience swimming in the ocean before you try and learn how to ride a wave. Before they even let me get in the water, they taught me on the beach how to stand on the board, how my feet should be positioned, stuff like that.

ive surfed since i was 6 and currently one of the best in britain but i still find it difficult some days. you can only practice and get better! u need to have good upper body strength too but it may take a while to get good like 5 years to really start getting good. btw-hawaii isnt the best place to surf bali, indo and austrailia are maybe better even though everyone thinks of hawaii to be the best!

Its difficult at first but once you ride your first wave out all youll want to do is get better trust me youll be able to ride out your first wave in your 1st or second day of surfing fid good spots where the waves arent to rough the hardest part of surfing is getting in position to ride the wave

It has one of the steepest learning curves and unfortunately gets harder and harder the older you get. But I've taught people that are quite older and they did really well. If you are active and good at sports, there is no reason for surfing to be much harder than any other new activity. The first attempts are the hardest but once you get the hang for it, it becomes easier and easier. You should always at least give it a shot.
