How to prepare body for surfing?

    It takes an enormous amount of upper body strength so I would suggest pull ups and push ups. Then you really need a strong core for your center of balance. so I would say sit ups and crunches and possibly leg lifts. also if you can get a board early try to find a sound or river and paddle. it sucks big time but it'll help your strength. and make sure you are ok with being in the water and you're comfortable with your swimming abilities. and you can try to practice your pop ups because thats the hardest part of surfing when you're starting out oh and if you can try to get some locals to critique you when you're out there. most of the time they'll be happy to help and tell you what you're doing wrong. I met some great locals my first time out and they go me standing up in no time!
