    i love velcro cause lace ups break and are annoying (i have only seen la sportiva break though) my tip. don't wear socks it kinda defeats the purpose of wearing climbing shoes! i like the demons im 13 and they are the best shoes i have ever tried on!! they are made by mad rock :)

scarpa are a really good make for climbing shoes! they do lace and are very tight fitting and comfortable, they allow you to get your feet into tiny little cracks and also keep a good grip and balance, price wise i would say is about average. as for your harness, i would say go with petzl. they are a really good popular brand and all their stuff is extremely well made and comfortable. they are well padded and secure and have plenty of loops to hang stuff from such as your chalk bag. other gear i would recommened you getting would be a chalk bag, chalk, and a belay device! good luck with the climbing!
