    I've worn both and I find mids to be the far better choice. Typically, you'll find mids to be a bit heavier but with that you're usually getting a stiffer shank and more support. They're also boots you can wear year round. Trail shoes in the snow, and even with some stream crossings, aren't the best mix. A tip? If you're looking for boots or trail shoes to wear casually you might want to consider going with a cheaper brand. My boots never touch anything but the trail and the parking lot. Soles wear out faster than the boot with better brands so it pays to take care of them.
