Rope climbing in gym class- has anyone ever had to do that?

yes, i've had to do that, but i was really strong and could get myself up without using my legs! i didn;t have a bad experiance with it

yea i did that and i got to the very top. When I came back down my gym teacher started screaming at me because we were'nt supposed to go to the top. Also when other people were climbing it we used to shake the rope at the bottom so they fell onto the mat. Good times Good Times. oh yea, and we used to swing on them like monkeys. There were three ropes, so we would swing to the first one, then grab on to the second one, then the third. You'd have lot's of fun when the teacher isn't looking.

in my elementary school we did once in gymnastics class, that was back in the early 90's at Woodland Classical Greek Magnet school in KC, MO.

Oh yes. Back in the 50's, when I was in school. If you didn't have upper body strength you were pretty much out of luck.

Yes. The rope ran from the floor to the ceiling of the gym. I could actually climb from floor to ceiling and back without using my legs or feet. About 20 ft. I lifted a lot of weights in high school.

In elementary school we would have these "fun days" where the class would get split up into groups and move around to different activites. One of them was rope climbing.
