What is a bivouac tent?

What's the best bivouac tent for going around the world in,?

  • I want a bivouac or easy put up tent to travel around the world in, what tent is the best for all climates and is also easy to put up and take down. thank you

  • Answer:

Well in my opinion an all around tent will be a free standing 3-4 season tent "best"is an opinion best sellers are what rates "best" generally if you take out the walmart type brands. I use the REI half dome 2 tent all over the USA and have never had an issue, other brands like Big Agnus, Marmot and MSR have great reviews as well it all depends what's in your budget. Check out these and other tents at REI read the reviews and in some cases you can try before you buy as a rental. Have fun! I have been using the MSR Hubba Hubba, four pounds, for a decade and enjoy the spacious interior and fast set-up. However, I bought Big Agnes Fly Creek Ultralight 1, two pounds, this year and enjoy it because it is extremely lightweight and compact. Last week, I slept through a rainstorm and snow with my 70 Liter backpack inside the tent with me, enough leg room despite my 6'2" height, although headroom is not quite high enough to sit-up. Sleep with your head in deep, rather than toward the entry, then it is easier to get out of the tent when you sit-up. $300.
