I need to find a really good camping site in long beach area?

    If you are in the Long Beach, CA area there's Doheny State Beach. It's not roughing it but you can put up a tent and camp on the beach. You MUST make a reservation if you want to get a spot on the beach. Try to keep the noise down during the quiet time unless you want to spend some time talking to the cops. This campground gets pretty crowded and if there are a bunch of young kids being loud there's a 100% chance of someone calling them. Have fun!

Doheny is great, but the sites are VERY close together. Your tent may have to be up against the bumper of your car. And for many sites the division from your tent to your neighbor's tent may be only a concrete parking bumper. It's a very popular campground, even now that kids are back in school, most weekend nights are booked solid. San Clemente state beach still has spots available for the next month or so...but you aren't ON the beach. It's up on the bluffs above the beach. Still a nice campground. Again, weekend nights are tough to come by. San Onofre State Beach has campsites available on weekends - but you're up on a bluff, and right next to the freeway and the train tracks. Noisy! If you're willing to get away from the beach, all kinds of options open up to you in the National Forests.
