Where is a nice/cheap place to go camping in nj?

I want to go camping in mid august near NJ, PA, OR NY. any suggestions?

  The Pennsylvania DCNR has an excellent site for finding parks in this state with cabins for rent. http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/ The other states will have similar sites. State run parks tend to have the cheapest cabins. I will warn you, however: you are getting an awfully late start on trying to get a reservation during peak camping season in the most densely populated part of the country. Most of the prime cabins, cottages and yurts are reserved months in advance and you are not likely to be in a position to be picky about price and location. You may have better luck doing web searches for private campgrounds and cottages. Also, Rand McNally and other campground guidebooks (available at bookstores) are good sources of information for camping resources. Expect to pay around $50 or more per night for places near fishing. You might have to rent a camper van or rent or buy a tent. People who regularly use rental cabins often reserve them up to a year in advance.
