Will bear mace work on a cougar (mountain lion)?

You must take walks in a zoo if you expect to face down a coyote, mountain lion, or bear. I ride my bicycle 8 miles to work at 4:30 each morning of summer. When I meet coyotes, bears, foxes, elk, mountain goats, marmots, beavers, and porcupines, the wildlife tries to NOT have an encounter with me. The only wildlife that has hit me was a robin that flew-up in a panic and slammed into my face. Animals are not interested in facing-off with you. I would rather take my chances with wildlife than with the automobile drivers who are talking on their cell phones or driving while intoxicated. If you feel safer carrying a canister of pepper spray, then start packing. However, if a mountain lion decides to hit you because you look like a mule deer, you will likely be attacked from behind, feel teeth piercing your neck, and never have the opportunity to pull a can of pepper spray out of a holster.

Agree with Chris W. and MountainMan. Do not give me points for common sense. Seal Team Six is needs an authentication and CIC directive to eliminate your problem.
