Where can I find bare minimum camping in the Poconos?

    The Poconos are not the Cascades. They are not as remote and are both very heavily developed and also crowded due to their proximity to New York City and other major metro areas. You would find more of what you seek by heading farther north into the Adirondacks or farther west into the mountains of North Central Pennsylvania.

I'm partial to buildering, the climbing of vacant structures, and tenting overnight atop concrete or grain storage silo works for me (the grain smells sweeter). Sure, I've camped at Glacier, but the good old traditions are usually found too crowded. I suggest looking at abandoned railroad trestles such as the one adjacent to Highway 9 on crossing the Skagit River; try fishing from your tent or listening to lonely ducks.
