How can I find free camping spots?

Any body know any good camping spots in san diego or a way to find one?

looks like u have some good answers already but South Carlsbad State Beach is sweet. its over the beach and u can walk down to the beach. its purty neat

Go east... out by Julian. Then south, to Laguna Mountain area. I was just there last weekend... you can hit antique stores in Ramona on the way there (out Hwy 78) and in Julian (at the 78 and Hwy 79 junction)... don't forget to stop in Julian for some PIE!
