How do you get nail polish out of the carpet?

  • okay so i was painting my nails and i hat my neon green nail polish off my desk and there was like 2 strips of nail polish on the white carpet how do you get it out!

    let it dry completely then carefully cut it out with a razor blade this works well if the paint is sitting on top of the fibers but not so good if it is down to the bottom of the fibers

Step1Test a small area of carpet to make sure the acetone won't melt it. (you can find 100% pure acetone at a beauty supply store, its basically strong nail polish remover) Step2Once you're sure it won't ruin your carpet soak the stained area with the acetone. Step3Put a towel over the area and press straight down on it as hard as you can. You can set something heavy on it for a few minutes if you want. Step4Repeat steps 2 and 3 until stain is gone. It may take more than one bottle of acetone to remove depending on how dark the polish is and how much is on the carpet. Step5After the polish is gone clean the area with soap and water to remove the acetone. Set a towel over the area with weight on top to force out the moisture.

The only thing I have found that works is a product called Spot Shot, blue spray can w/ orange lid in the household cleaning isle at Wal Mart and many other stores like Target and Meijer.
