Who knows of a good 6 day RV camping trip in Colorado?

This would be a wonderful trip, even more so if you could delay your vacation by two weeks. The problem is that most of the areas you'd want to visit in Colorado may be inaccessible to snow. They are still getting snow even now. On your way from Indiana I'd suggest taking I-90 through South Dakota. Although this will be longer than I-80, you'll get to enjoy several tourist traps (1880's town in Murdo,SD; Corn Palace in Mitchel, SD, Wall Drugs in Wall, SD), Custer State Park, Black Hills National Forest, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and the amazing Badlands of South Dakota. Try to push through to Mitchell, SD (or further on to Kennebec or even Interior), on your first day; there's a KOA there, and then it's only 6 hours to Custer (but it will take you 10 or more including stops at Badlands and Wall Drug). In the Badlands/Custer area I stayed in the Rapid City KOA and it was OK, conveniently located, but not very scenic. There's nicer (and cheaper) campsites in Custer State Park with hook-ups if you can manage a reservation. It's worth spending a full day in the Custer area: Hit Rushmore as early as possible (it faces southeast, so mornings are better views than late afternoons), then Crazy Horse, and spend the rest of the day exploring Custer State Park (lots of Buffalo, Pronghorn Deer and other wildlife) and Black Hills National Forest. Beware: Buffalo can get aggressive if you get too close -- stay at least 100 feet away. You can then head South through Wyoming, optionally swinging West to see Devil's Tower, (though you'll be a bit pressed for time with only 10 days), and spend a day (and night) in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Now the problem is that in early May a lot of the roads in the state and national parks in Colorado are still closed due to snow. You might have limited access, or no access at all. It snowed yesterday and the upper elevations still have a lot of base to melt off. Rocky Mountain National Park is a "must visit' location in Colorado, but they don't plan to be open until May 26. Access in nearby Roosevelt National Forest and Arapaho National Forest may be limited as well. Even so, the scenery in this area is beautiful. Estes Park is a good base location, with several RV campgrounds of varying quality (mostly mediocre). The best spot is the Spruce Lake RV Park; I've stayed there twice and would return again. Lake Dillon is also a very nice area, situated in the basin of several mountains (and ski areas), with plenty of views and recreational activities. Sugar Lofin Campground is the nices park near Lake Dillon, Tiger Run is about 45 minutes away in Vail (which is also a nice resort town). On the return leg, take I-90 through Kansas City and St. Louis (stop and see the Arch). Did this route 2 years ago from NJ. Actually went further west -- Yellowstone/Jackson Hole for 4 days, Salt Lake City for a day, Moab/Arches/Canyonlands for 4 days. Took 24 days and wish we had longer.

Been there done that. Take the north route to get there. Stop at Mt. Rushmore, Wall Drug. Get to Jackson Hole and take in a rodeo. Take the train up Pikes Peak. (Take warm coats.) Do the Flying W chuck wagon in Colorado Springs. (Great food and a great show.)Trip home through Nebraska was boring. There was also a place on the way out known as the (corn palace) but I don't remember where.
