Where is a good place to camp in southern California?

  • My father and I are going camping soon and we're looking for a place to camp. We're in Orange County and we need a good place for camping. Any suggestions?

    I suggest Pismo Beach or Refugio or El Capitan near Santa Barbara but it will be hard to get in at this time for the summer.

Try Big Bear Lake. There is still snow for winter sports, soon there will be fishing allowed in the lakes, lots of campgrounds and vacation rentals (I know of a really good and inexpensive one). You should try out the Alpine Ski Lift (winter or summer) as well as the Alpine Water Slide (summer). There are so many hiking trails, places to shop, restaurants and spots for your nightlife! Beautiful country to relax in.

If you can get on Camp Pendleton go to Del Mar Beach. Otherwise, try Carlsbad State Beach, or further north go to Refugio State Beach or Leo Carrillo. I prefer beach camping in SoCal.
