The closest place would be Floyd Bennet Field in Brooklyn. I'm not sure what it's like, camping in the middle of Brooklyn doesn't sound appealing to me. Depending on where you live and traffic it can take you over an hour just to get out of NYC. But assuming light traffic you could get out to Heckscher State Park, Fire Island, Harriman or Big Bear.
