Looking at buying a new tent? Help!?

Your best bet is to buy the tent size & weight you want at your local store (Target, etc.) and then seal it. The reason why some tents are $400 vs $60 is the construction. Whey you pay hundreds of dollars, you're paying for the lighter materials they use to make the tent. You're also paying for the double seal on the sewing to make it waterproof. Needless to say, the cheap tents at Wal-Mart are not sealed against water. So, buy the cheap tent and seal it on your own. This will take some time, but it will yield the same results, the tent size you want with the ability to keep you dry during rains. Sealing... DO NOT buy any sealer that is being sold at the same store you get your cheap tent. I've tested many different brands thru the years and the ONLY one that works is: Seam Grip Seam Sealer. You may have to get this at an outdoor specialty store like REI, but it is the only stuff that will work. Buy a couple of tubes, put up your tent in the morning of a dry day, apply the seam seal on every sewn stitch in the inside of the tent and let it dry outside for 24 hours. Good luck!

We found Vango are good tents - they have a Beta and Omega which are two man and not too dear. The Omega has more space out of the bedroom area. They also have a dearer one which I am sure would be totally waterproof but the cheaper one should be fine -ours has been. However some of the bigger tents have sown in Ground sheets which we have found great and do keep out draughts but they are prob too big if its just two of you.

first off, if you plan on cramming boyfriends and girlfriends into one tent you are asking for trouble, NO 2 room tent will give you THAT much privacy...why dont you each just buy a 2 man tent?? its cheaper that way anyway
