What should I bring for a camping?

What should I bring for a two-day camping trip?

  • I have prepared some camping gear for my first camping trip. I just want to know is there a checklist about the camping gear one should bring for a two-day camping trip?

  • Answer:

A backpacking list will provide you with a basic list that you can modify for the type of camping that you intend to undertake. --------------------- In my pockets, I always carry a pocket knife and fire starter, tissues or lint packets, along with several bandages in my wallet. Although reception does not exist in many gulches, I carry a cell phone that usually functions above tree-line. In my daypack, I have compression sacks that hold my down jacket, heat packs, windbreaker, and down mittens or lighter gloves. I carry a second fire starter and two headlamps with extra batteries. I pack trail snacks, such as cheese, nuts, and rice chips. Attached by carabiner, I have at least two water bottles, sunglasses, reading glasses, and global positioning system. On most hikes, I also carry a water filter.

It depends if this is an expedition trip, or centred at a base camp. However, there are a few essentials regardless of what you're doing: 1. A decent water proof (it doesn't need to be expensive, but especially if you're trekking, it needs to be comfortable, light, breathable to an extent and of course water proof AND windproof). And water proof trousers if you're hiking. 2. A decent tent and stove (lighter if you're trekking, but heavier tents also tend to be a bit bigger so more comfortable if you're just at a base camp. I prefer gas stoves over alcohol stoves (as gas ones often cook faster), but alcohol stoves can be lighter and cheaper. 3. Food that's easy to cook in a single pot, and filling and warming, if you're on an expedition make sure it's light. And obviously things like a bowl (I never take a plate, as a shallow bowl can serve for anything) and cutlery. 4. Storage for your gear. If this is just at a base camp, I'd go for a decent camping holdall (they're easy to get stuff in and out of, easy to store and pretty waterproof), and a day bag for when I'm out, but if you're hiking with your kit, then you'll obviously want a rucksack, make sure it fits well and is big enough for all your gear. 5. Water proof bags - Especially if you're hiking with your stuff. If it rains heavily, your rucksack won't be fully waterproof, so you'll need these to keep clothing and other important things dry. 6. A warm sleeping bag. 7. For an expedition, you'll need decent boots and socks, and light breathable clothing. Then of course there's a few other things like a knife (not essential), anything that you need to use the rest of your kit (like matches), and anything else that will make your trip easier or more comfortable (like a bed roll - either foam or inflateable).

It depends on the nature of the camping itself...If you are camping in a campsite, then all you have to bring is your personal effects such as clothes, and other important personal things...Jewelries are not essential for these trips, though...But, if you are going on a trek/hiking/outdoor type of camping, then you should have to consider bringing extra clothes including socks and shoes, canned foods, hiking gears such as compass and maps (if you're not familiar with the place), 2 yards of climbing rope and a set of carabiners and wrenches would help, too...Keep a GPS handy as well...Don't forget to individually store your clothes and other stuffs in a ziploc to prevent them from getting wet if a sudden rain pours hard or you are required to traverse a stream or river...Lastly, don't forget your jacket, knife, and a portable alcohol stove if you have one, and, snake bite kits aside from the usual first-aid kit... Good luck... Hope this helps...
