  As others have already told you, Walmart (and K-Mart and Target) tents are cr@p, strictly for mild weather and setting up in your back yard for the kids to play in. They use inferior materials and are poorly designed and constructed. For real camping comfort and security you need a tent from a reliable manufacturer. Bundle up that lousy Walmart thing and return it and demand your money back. If they won't refund it, sell it to some victim on Craigslist. Then order a catalog from Campmor (http://www.campmor.com). They have a huge variety of decent to top of the line tents in all price ranges, styles and sizes and have excellent tables comparing dimensions, weights and features. If you have a small budget, look at the Eureka models, if you can spend a little more, look at the Kelty and Big Agnes models. If you will be backpacking and need light weight and high strength, the Marmot, Sierra Designs and North Face tents are top notch. Campmor has a good website, too, but I find their printed catalog a lot easier to browse and compare models. If you prefer to buy in person, go to L.L. Bean, REI or Eastern Mountain Sports (which have outlets in most major cities). Also Gander Mountain stores have some good tents but they also stock some not-so-good ones so you have to know what you are looking for. Regular sporting goods stores like Dunhams and D1ck's do NOT have good selections.
