Answer:
no you will definitely not be able to go!!! you are not even supposed to leave your house for the first 10 days after a tonsillectomy!!! you will be exposing yourself to much much much much higher risk for complication and literally bleeding to death!!!!!!! (seriously not kidding here!) you'll be able to speak in a raspy quiet voice. and your family better not consider going. they need to be there for you in your healing process.

I suppose you could but based upon my experience you will not feel like doing more than sleeping. You will be in a considerable amount of pain and will not impress your guy & his family. I suggest you stay home & follow your doctors orders to the letter.

No, no, NO! All the otherS commented here have addressed everything quite well. You need to Take care of yourself, you won't feel well, and will not even be able to participate. If you and this guy like each other, you will still like each other in a couple weeks. NO----stay home

Recovery sounds like it is going to be very painful and may last two weeks. Either forget about camping a day after surgery or forget about getting the surgery. You may not even need the surgery, since removal of tonsils is not considered necessary by medical professionals under most circumstances. Make sure that the infections of your tonsils are so severe and untreatable by antibiotics that your surgery is really needed. Without knowing your situation, you should consult with at least one other physician before you go ahead with surgical removal of your tonsils. If you only have minor throat infections, then you probably should not have surgery, according to recent medical research. --------------------------------------... A tonsillectomy is considered major surgery. It may just take 20 or 30 minutes (depending on whether you're also taking the adenoids, adding tubes), but it is major surgery. In an adult, it takes a month for full recovery. In a young child, it's a little over 2 weeks. I think because most people don't remember how much pain they were in when they were this young (they usually just remember the ice cream) and because the doctors forget that we have no idea what we're really in for, we weren't adequately prepared for this. Because it turns out that what we're in the midst of is ten days of round-the-clock pain management. Actually, I'm hoping it's just ten days. Today is day 7. We'll see.

You will be advised by your Dr. to stay home Quietly for a couple of days. Chances are that, no matter how fine this fellow is, you are not going to want anything but the remote and your own bed! Stay home.
