no the older you get the harder the ground gets and the harder it is to get up from the ground. That's why they invented RV camping. You youngens can use those skimpy thin pads and ifn you have a good set of lungs an air mattress. Some tricks to soften the spot you sleep on is pile up some leaves under the tent, use a good thick thermal pad and a wool under blanket, worked well for me for many a years. Now I gots myself an RV that's more like a rollin motel, couldn't be more comfortable.

No. Buy yourself a Big Agnes Dual Core, 2.5-inch depth, or similar sleeping pad, about $100, and sleep well.
