    i like to pee on the fire ring when its good and hot, the pee instantly turns to vapor and makes you realize just how hot those things can get. also, at the beach, after the fire is raging, i like to get kelp or seeweed that is wet and but some on the fire, it smells real bad and smokes a lot

Identifying animal tracks is fun not to mention helpful when you're in bear country :) There are track guide books available in outdoors stores or in bigger bookstores.

Go hiking. Use a compass, or learn how to use one... Identify edible plants and sample them, (eat) Also identify dangerous plants. Look for animals, see where they live, and identify and have everybody put their two cents worth in about them...knowledge, Identify animals by the tracks they leave on the ground, and learn how old the tracks may be. Determine which animals live there year round, and which are passing through or live there part of the year. Identify trees. Identity animals by the sounds they make. Want to form some bonds and memories? Jumping into and out of very cold water is always fun! Especially when you all have to stand by a fire to get warm! And telling ghost and scarey stories is always fun in the dark by camp firelight, especially when you save scariest ones for telling by the light of a campfire burning its last embers and the fright run back to tents and under covers!

I am an experienced camper and I have to agree with ash. Beer will make the camping trip a lot better. Theres a porkchop in every can!
