What is the best hiking gear for extreme rain?

Where's a good place to get reasonably priced outdoor camping gear?

  • I recently was at REI and noticed how expensive everything was. Just wondering where I can get cheap camping gear (stoves, tents, rain jackets, hiking boots etc.) Thanks.

    Your best bet is to hit all the stores at the end of the camping season. They won't want to stock it over the winter. They discount it just to get rid of it. I got a $250 tent for $35, Same for my stove and lantern. Last year I picked up a Coleman stove top oven at Wal-mart for $6. It may take you a while to get everything you want , but you'll save tons of money.

you're right about REI- great gear but too pricey and too technical for most everyday people's needs.. stick to brands like coleman, eureka, kelty, etc...you can find them at D*icks sporting goods, cabela's, gander mountain ,campmor, etc...here's something intersting--my $99 eureka tent lasted longer than my $230 north face tent

Walmart! It would help to put where you are so someone may recommend something that's close to you. I actually have lots of camping stuff from Walmart. I normally wouldn't recommend Walmart because I think the quality of some stuff is not that great, but we actually own a really decent tent and air mattress that we bought from there and they have both really held up.

try tractors supply or a near by menards walmart works too kmart is a bit expensive tho so u might wanna stay away from there and any other outdoors shop ur best bet would be a hunters store of any kind
