Any good forests for camping in?

Great forests to go camping in California, need ideas please...?

    We camped in the Redwood Forest at the KOA Campground and it was lovely. I hope we can go back sometime. We stayed in a cabin--take your own bedclothes. It had a set of bunk beds and a full size bed for us. We had a campfire and watched the stars and sunset. We walked trails and admired the giant trees.

Given the current fires AND the fact that you are just entering the fire season with high fire danger due to conditions statewide; might I suggest you rethink the matter.

Samuel P Taylor state park in Marin county is great. Lots of bike and hiking trails, redwood trees, nice camp sites and close to Mt Tamalpias and the coast too.

try Richardsons Grove north of the bay area in the redwoods right on hwy 101

Big Basin State Park is very popular. It's just north of Santa Cruz. You could also give Butano SP a try. It's on coast near Pescadero. I prefer it to BB SP. Less populated but just as nice, imo. Both have really good hiking. Always call ahead. I never been to Austin Creek but I've camped places north of there and I think these two should be to your liking.
