How to keep a camping tent clean while camping?
-
I will purchase a new camping tent for my camping trip. I wonder is there any way to keep the camping tent clean while camping? Actually, I'm a bit of a neat freak.

Answer:
Handbrush and dustpan. Buying a tent with a foyer helps. you can take your shoes off before you get inside the tent.

A small rug just outside the door helps prevent tracking dirt in.

with a tent brush. or a big paintbrush, hand brush. just sweep it out the entry or bring a dustbin

use a broom inside, at the door use a door mat. The best type of door mat is a piece of artificial turf this lets the debris fall into it and you step cleanly into the tent.

With my tent I use a sheet of plastic between the grass and the bottom of the tent, so this stops the actual bottom of the tent getting muddy or whatever. In respects to inside the tent, never go in wearing your shoes. If your clothes have mud, water, whatever on them, I would try and take them off as near to the front of the tent as possible, which will stop there being a big mess inside your tent. I would never eat in my tent, unless it's something that I can eat without making a mess - which isn't a lot of things really! Most importantly, try and clean the tent as soon as possible with water and a brush - don't use soap as that might affect the waterproofing of the tent and don't use a firm brush as you might damage the tent.

Coleman Hooligan 3 or 4 person design has a vestibule that you can take your shoes off in and get a minimal amount of dirt in the tent. Also, Walmart carries a small handbroom and dustpan mad for use in a tent.

I have a astro turf small mat for the outside, a small throw rug for the inside. A wisk broom and dustpan for sweeping up inside. DON"T BRING THE DIRT IN!

Don't bring dirt in. No food should be in your tent anyway, so that eliminates crumbs, wrappers, etc. Take off your boots outside and leave them there if your tent has a vestibule. If not, leave them there anyway. If you must bring them in because it's raining or your in snake or scorpion country or something ("There's a snake in my boot!), smack the soles together a few times before bringing them in to knock off all the dirt. Finally, camping isn't really the best of hobbies for neat freaks. It's hard to stay as clean as you can at home. You'll be doing yourself a favor if you try to condition yourself to being a bit less hygienic on the trail, but I also find that keeping one of those small bottles of Purell in my pocket does wonders for my peace of mind at times.
