How do girls pee while camping? other tips for camping?

    There is actually a book called "How to Sh*t in the Woods" with good advice in it. If you are going with cadets they should teach you proper hygiene for using the woods as a toilet. You really need to dig a hole, away from the trail and from sources of water, and bury what you leave so you don't spread disease. If there is no-one on the trip who knows about these things, you should not go, because it is an important part of camping safety and environmental responsibility. You can't really expect to get enough "tips" for camping on here to do this successfully. Tell the trip leader NOW that you need some instruction and education in what you should bring on the trip. They should have provided you with a checklist.

Your cadets can make a toilet out of 4 trees, and 4 small logs. Just tie them in a "H" shape, with one stick close to the end. It should be slanted. You will dig a hole about 2 ft long, and 8" deep.When someone goes, then just cover it up with some dirt to control smell.

Go into some SAFE bushes and squat, bring toilet paper!! And by safe bushes, I mean bushes that are not crawling with bugs and not a poison ivy bush. I assume you're a girl scout. Please forgive me if I'm wrong, but if you don't what a good bush is opposed to a bad bush is, ask one of your troop leaders or another cadet that's been camping before. Have fun!!! Bring bug spray and spray EVERYWHERE, even up into you sleeves and on your ankles and on your neck.

You will die if you do not take an air bed (air mattress) to sleep on. Leave your shoes outside the tent at all times--of course check them in the morning make sure there are no bugs in them before putting back your shoes on--but shoes track a lot of dirt. Am sure there are toilets, port-a-johns, or outhouses somewhere. What you have to worry about is if having to pee late at night and not having to take a long scary walk to these facilities, with bugs all over the place. In sports stores or camping gear places, they sell a plastic device you can use to pee in while in your tent. It has an adapter for girls, and the device has a screw on cap so the smell does not get everywhere--it is plastic and cheap--
