    lmao yahoo answers is for idiots i just stumbled across this. they only race 4 strokes because of epa emmisions they dont allow companys to make 2 strokes. if you dont beleive me im me ill send you pics of my rm250 and dynos comparing to a yz450 4 poke. 2 strokes dont have less gears either. if you really want a true answer from a class a rider im me ill tell you everything you need to know. DONT buy a 4 stroke. oh yea if 2 stroke racing is dead then please tell me why ktm,husaberg,suzuki,honda are designing 2 stroke bikes for 2014 because they finally developed fuel injection for 2 strokes which makes them more efficeint which will put 4 strokes in the dirt period

the 2 stroke has a powerband and if you get a two stroke you have to ride in it. Also on a two stroke you are more likely to flip over. And two strokes dont always have less gears i had a rm65 with 6 gears and my 150 has 5. If you are just going to start ridding get a 4 stroke you will get the hang of it faster. Just some advice if you are starting to race be prepared you will get wooped the first time and you will have soooooo many butterfly's. Have the best of luck

Try both out, these people are just blabbering about their own opinions. It's really up to you, I'd pick a 4-stroke because you don't have to mix gas. Only reason. I do have a 1986 TRX250R which is a 2-stroke quad. It's really fun, but so is my dirt bike. It's all preference.

2 Strokes have less gears than 4 strokes. 2 strokes have more higher end power and 4 strokes have lower end power. Tipically if you want to race you will want a 2 stroke. Others may have a different look but from what i ride and am told 2 strokes are better racers. P.S. Best answer please
