  • Answer:

R.R.O.D. can happen to anyone at anytime. It has happened to me twice on two different consoles. Both times it was due to a faulty power cord. Which is the problem 50% of the time. Its main problem is the overheating. If you have a refurbished Halo3 or Elite edition you wont have to worry about the overheating problem at all. It has what is unknown as the "Falcon Chip" which was put in by microsoft on those two editions to stop R.R.O.D.. A lot of people dont know that because Microsoft keeps it very secretive as to not tick off owners of standerd 360 systems. Even if it is refurbished dont stress due to the fact they have extended all warranty's due to the problem. I'll add a link just in case you get it that shows pics and explanations about the numerous R.R.O.D's and how to deal with them without (most of the time) sending it in, Hope this heps! http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=472553

Other answers

just keep da console properly ventilated(keep it horizantal) and play for like an hr and a half to 2 hrs

It doesn't matter if your system is New, Used, or Refurbished, red rings can happen literally at any time. Just make sure you keep it in a space that is open, and isn't covered by anything. Also when you are not playing it, just turn it off.
