Will a video card work with my pc to stop my counterstrike source game from lagging?

My pc is a compaq presario with a intel celeron processor 530 with 120 gb of hard drive and 1024 DDR2. WILL A VID CARD BE RIGHT FOR ME?

You need a good CPU. Half-Life based games are very processor-intensive, and Celerons are garbage.

Is it lagging or bad frame rate? If it is internet lag than no, if you have bad frame rate (your game stutters or freezes) than your video card will need to be upgraded. It could also be your computers processor, or any programs running in the background that may halter your game.

It could either be your video card or your internet connection. IF you know your internet is good, change the video card, but make sure that your CPU can support it.
